Supporting children and families can be rewarding, but it can also be demanding. Summer can bring a slower pace and an opportunity to pause, reflect, and recharge. For foster parents, caregivers, and child welfare professionals, the work of caring for others can feel like it has drained you of all your energy and dedication. This month, we encourage everyone to prioritize their own well-being. Taking time to focus on your physical, emotional, and mental health is not a luxury; it is an essential part of maintaining resilience and preventing burnout. When caregivers are supported and healthy, they are better equipped to provide stable, nurturing care.

We are strong when we support one another. This summer, take time to celebrate small successes, acknowledge your impact, and invest in your own well-being. By caring for yourself, you strengthen your ability to care for others.
Remember: You cannot pour from an empty cup. Taking care of yourself is one of the most important ways you can continue to support children and families.
Kentucky's Just in Time Training is a web based service program designed to connect foster parents, kinship or other caregivers with training, peer experts and other resources. Questions are answered and practical solutions to care for children are discussed - all from the comfort of your home or office.
